Covid -19 Information

Covid-19

As you are aware Covid-19 hasn’t disappeared and I am in the highly vulnerable group and as case numbers are variable. Given that when I contracted covid in hospital my admission lasted 4 months.

I have carried out a risk assessment and we have returned to a

 blended teaching format

a combination of face to face (in school/studio lessons) and zoom lessons.

It has not been possible to return to teaching in all schools as this requires their risk assessment to allow for visiting teachers as well as meeting the requirements of Owl Music risk assessment! Instead pupils have been offered a lessons at the studio in River.

Changes

Parents will be required to agree to an updated contract and terms and conditions prior to resuming face to face lessons.

A copy of the Risk Assessment will be available on the parent portal along with specific instructions regarding attending lessons.

All pupils and parents may be required to wear a face covering during the lesson

Parents may be asked to wait outside and siblings will no longer be permitted to accompany pupils. The full recommendations can be found here - ISM guidance for private music lessons

The main message is if you are unwell don’t come to lessons!

Contact me and we can arrange online or possibly rearrange a face to face lesson.

Please note that in line with T&Cs rearranging an in person lesson is not automatic and you may be charged for cancellations within the notice period.

Update re Lessons and Covid-19

Dear all

I am sure you will all have seen the roadmap out of lockdown outlined by the prime minister in this evening's announcement.

In addition to this message the advice to those with underlying health conditions classed as "extremely vulnerable" has also been adjusted slightly.  We had previously been asked to remain indoors for 12 weeks and not leave the house at all - opening a window only for fresh air and isolating from members of our own household. We have now been advised that "shielding" is to continue until at least the end of June.

This obviously means that face-face lessons at my home cannot as yet resume. I am hoping to resume some lessons using a combination of FaceTime Skype zoom and google duo and have trialled various options. These have worked except due to bandwidth  I currently have had to prioritise the use of broadband to my 3 childrens education as they are finishing a degree and GCSEs  and have had online lectures and school daily 9-5.

From June 1st I will be in contact with you all individually to trial and discuss lesson options.

The good news is Owl Music is now an MTB exam centre so as well as the LCM performance awards and ABRSM music medals we can also enter for graded exams online and submit dvd recordings even at a distance!

I hope you are all well and look forward to getting back to music making together shortly.

Stay safe
